Counselling

Support in challenging times
Counselling can offer helpful support in times of crisis – such as when facing important decisions or profound changes in your circumstances like the loss of a loved one or a move to a different country.
Get in touch for an initial appointment where we can get to know each other. If you find yourself at ease with me, I would be happy to be there for you.
However, if you are currently in severe acute crisis or living with a diagnosed mental health condition, please refer to the list of contact numbers at the end of this page.

My approach to counselling

Appreciative and solution-focussed

I follow the client-centred or person-centred approach developed by American psychologist Carl Rogers. This is a form of "talking therapy" which supports clients in their desire for personal growth. The counsellor acts as a sounding board and creates a space where clients can identify underlying problems and find their own individual solutions.

The client-centered approach is often described as a humanistic method. It looks upon the client as a unique individual with an inherent desire to evolve and improve and a need for nourishing social interaction. It also considers each and every one of us to be capable of solving our problems with the help of our own experience, skills and abilities.

Sessions can be held in English.

About me

From languages to understanding

I trained as a conference interpreter. During my time in the profession I learned to listen between the lines and hear also that which is not being said in so many words, helping people understand each other across cultural and language barriers. In my new role as mental health practitioner I use these skills to get to the root of a problem or situation.

I combine the client-centred approach of Carl Rogers with elements of solution-focussed communication. My aim is to look beyond the problem and create a space where resources can be used and options become available – helping you arrive at a tailor-made solution in small, manageable steps.

Client feedback

This is what former clients say about me.
  • J., weiblich, 28
Ariane really helped me during some very difficult phases in my life. Thanks to her I learned to self-reflect and understand myself, to recognise my needs and to find a good way of dealing with my mental health condition. I perceived her to be a kind and intelligent therapist and I enjoyed going to our sessions.

  • E., weiblich, 42
Ariane is very understanding and able to respond very well to her clients‘ needs. Her advice played a vital role for me in managing my day-to-day affairs and working towards my goals. Attending the counselling sessions opened up a new way forward for me and broke down the barriers to my starting psychotherapy. Without Ariane I would not be where I am today.
